Wylander, a recruiting company specializing in the restoration industry is hiring a Mitigation Technician for First Restoration Services of Asheville, located in Fletcher, NC. Since 1987, First Restoration has been providing impeccable service to their clients for water, fire, and smoke damage, mold remediation, natural disasters and other structural emergency needs for residential and commercial properties.  

First Restoration Services is seeking a candidate who can provide exceptional customer service and has the ability to show genuine care and compassion. As a Mitigation Technician you will respond to service requests at properties that have sustained various kinds of damage, including water, mold, or biohazard. In this role, you are the first person who enters the structure after the disaster/damage, and as such you need to be able to assure the customer that their property is going to be handled with the best care. A team-work spirit, a desire to learn, honesty, integrity, and the desire to be part of a respectful culture are important attributes of the right candidate.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly pay: $17.00-20.00/ hr. (DOE)
  • Overtime hours available

  • Ability to communicate with a variety of customers.
  • Inspect properties for water damage, document with photos, and develop a drying plan
  • Extract water from flooded structures
  • Remove all residue and odor from contents
  • Remove damaged materials such as personal belongings, flooring, drywall, and cabinets
  • Complete any necessary paperwork and utilize proprietary software to record all job notes
  • Clean and maintain all tools, equipment, supplies, and company vehicle
  • Maintain clean and safe job sites
  • Ensure customer is satisfied and happy with the work performed
  • Communicate with Project Managers to facilitate estimates for repair work
  • Be available for routine on-call emergency services and after-hours work


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in construction or restoration is a plus, but not required
  • Customer-oriented with pleasant demeanor
  • Punctuality and strong work ethic
  • Solid communication skills
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Self-starter who can recognize and solve problems independently
  • Must be able to be “on-call” (rotation schedule)
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass a background check and drug screening
  • Must have a clean driving record
